GAMUT INC

GAMUT INC is a Berlin-based compositional duo formed by Marion Wörle and Maciej Śledziecki, whose work focuses on contemporary organ music and the development of self-designed pipe organ instruments. Since 2013, the artists have been cultivating a distinctive approach to computer-controlled organs, treating the instrument not as a historical performance medium but as a complex system of airflow, resonance, movement, and sound organization.

Their work exists at the intersection of contemporary music, experimental organology, and performance, expanding organ practice alongside current explorations of sonic duration, repetition, and timbral transformation. In contrast to many contemporary aesthetics grounded in reduction and static drone, GAMUT INC employs the organ as an instrument of exceptional articulatory range, dynamic complexity, and sonic flexibility. Central to their practice is not only the sound itself, but also the physical processes that produce it — the instrument’s mechanics, the movement of air, and the architecture of resonance.

Since 2021, the duo has curated AGGREGATE, a Berlin-based festival dedicated to the international New Organ Movement, while continuing to develop original instruments and investigate the relationships between performer, machine, and acoustic space.

A key aspect of GAMUT INC’s practice is the exploration of new relationships between performer, instrument, and compositional process. In their works, the instrument functions not merely as a tool for performance but as an active agent shaping both the musical structure and the listening situation. The music unfolds between precisely programmed systems and the unpredictability of physical processes taking place within the instrument itself.

At Sanatorium of Sound 2026, GAMUT INC will present a performance using their custom-built double modular organ instrument, designed specifically for the duo’s artistic practice. Transported and installed in Sokołowsko for the occasion, the instrument will create a listening environment in which the organ experience is liberated from the architecture of the church and transformed into a direct, material encounter with sound.
