Piotr Kurek
Piotr Kurek – a composer and musician from Warsaw, known for his distinctive approach to sound, where electronics, voice, and editing blend into forms that oscillate between song, radio play, and abstract structure. His albums have been released on labels such as Unsound, Mondoj, and Edições CN. He has performed at festivals including Unsound, CTM, Rewire, OFF, and UH Fest. He also composes music for theater productions, films, and installations, collaborating with institutions such as TR Warszawa, the Stary Theatre in Kraków, and Münchner Kammerspiele. In 2025, he released a collaborative album with Patrick Shiroishi — Greyhound Days (Mondoj) — praised by outlets like Bandcamp Daily for its “lyrical intensity” and the “spontaneous dialogue” between saxophone and electronics.
At Sanatorium Dźwięku, Piotr Kurek will present a concert based on material he created in the late 1990s and early 2000s. These pieces have survived only partially — lacking full arrangements and complete tracks. MIDI jazz, samples of a barking dog, the sound of a shattering bottle. No quantization, random chords, lyrical sequences without a clear destination.
