PLK

PLK (Agata Polak) is a DJ, sound designer, and intermedia artist working at the intersection of independent club culture, sound art, and audiovisual practice. Her work brings together the trance-like melancholy and grandeur of synthesizer-driven textures with fractured bass rhythms, minimalist electronics, ambient music, and emotionally charged soundscapes. Moving fluidly across genres, she navigates the spaces between club culture, socially engaged art, and experimental listening practices.

Her artistic practice explores digital sonic environments, investigating posthuman approaches to sound and the relationships between audio, ecology, and more-than-human forms of presence. Through compositions and sound works that combine field recordings with environmental narratives, she creates immersive acoustic environments that foreground listening as an affective and ecological experience.

As a co-creator of the Castello Bizzarro festival and the Zgrzyt project, she has long been involved in developing Poland’s independent music scene and fostering collaborations that transcend genre and cultural boundaries. She is also a co-founder of Nerdka, a queer artistic and research collective working across digital art, philosophy, and emerging technologies.

Since 2017, she has performed regularly as both a DJ and live artist, collaborating with festivals and platforms including Unsound, Nyege Nyege, Oramics, and Wixapol. Her sound works have been presented at the Zachęta National Gallery of Art, Foksal Gallery Foundation, and Bielska BWA Gallery. Together with Xenon, in the duo Xenon x PLK, she develops a practice that moves between experimental rap, electronic music, and queer performance.
