Biuro at Sanatorium is a special programme by Biuro Dźwięku Katowice (Department of Sound Katowice), created specifically for the Sanatorium of Sound Festival and presented for the sixth consecutive year in Dr Brehmer’s Spa Park in Sokołowsko. Its aim is to create a unique and comfortable environment for an immersive outdoor listening experience.

Alongside the festival artists, Department of Sound Katowice will present works through its custom-built multichannel sound system, including a hybrid radio play / multiplayer game by Michał Jurgielewicz, as well as a live performance by Qba Janicki and Marek Pospieszalski based on a composition by Gerard Lebik, recorded during his residency in Katowice.

Founded in 2014, Department of Sound Katowice is a social and educational initiative directed and curated by Zuzanna Waltoś and Piotr Ceglarek. The project is dedicated to promoting unconventional and expanded approaches to sound production and listening, while fostering the exchange of knowledge and experience between audiences and invited artists. Over the years, Department has developed a wide range of activities supporting the local electronic music scene, including workshops, collaborative concert sessions, outdoor events, experiments with multichannel sound diffusion, and the Micro-Residencies programme.

The project is organised by the Katowice City of Gardens Cultural Institution.
