gamut inc
The interdisciplinary ensemble gamut inc, led by the composer duo Marion Wörle and Maciej Śledziecki, is dedicated to music theatre and machine music, with a thematic focus on the critical use of technology. Since 2013, gamut inc has been performing live internationally with organs and their self-built robots. They have created both film and theatre music.
Since 2021 they have been curating the AGGREGATE festival in Berlin, which is dedicated to computer-controlled pipe organs. With ZEROTH LAW, they completed their human-machine music theatre trilogy at the Deutsche Oper Berlin in 2023, in collaboration with the RIAS Chamber Choir and the Logos Foundation’s 50-piece robot orchestra.
The ensemble has received commissions and invitations to international festivals such as CTM, SONIC ACTS, New Music Gdansk, Numusic Stavanger, Vancouver New Music, Orgelpark Amsterdam and NOSPR. They have released on Morphine Records and Wergo and received numerous grants, including the German Federal Cultural Foundation grant and the Villa Kamogawa grant in Kyoto, Japan. Their organ installation AGGEGAT#11, commissioned by the Sónar Festival, premiered in 2022 and was subsequently acquired for the permanent collection of the Palau Güell in Barcelona.
With the help of a one-year grant from the Musikfonds, the Ensemble 2024/25 is researching the use of artificial intelligence in the art of organ playing.
