Katarzyna Karpowicz
An artist navigating the threshold between tradition and experiment. She plays the koto and shō, processing their timbres through electronics, oscillating between clarity and distortion. Her music is a journey through ambiguous sonic spaces – from ancient harmonies to waves vibrating on the edge of audibility. Blending detuning, microtonal tension, and subtle textures, she constructs a personal, deeply sensual sound world. Fascinated by the aesthetics of imperfection and the power of small gestures, she creates music that defies expectation while surprising with its elegance.
She is active in interdisciplinary projects that combine music with theatre, performance, and visual art. At Sanatorium of Sound, she performs in duo with Marek Pospieszalski, crafting a subtle soundscape where acoustic textures meet pulsing electronics in a contemplative sonic dialogue.
