Leslie García
Leslie García is a Mexican interdisciplinary artist, researcher, and sound composer working at the intersection of bioart, open-source technology, and experimental sound practices. Her work combines electronics, biological and environmental processes, and alternative modes of creation and listening—resulting in instruments, installations, and compositions often developed in dialogue with living organisms and ecosystems.
She is co-founder of the collectives Interspecifics and BioSoNot, known for their experimental research into interspecies communication, data-driven sound synthesis, and art–science education. García’s projects have been presented at Ars Electronica, MUTEK, Transmediale, CTM, and numerous research labs and art centers around the world.
In her practice, sound becomes a tool for exploring complex relationships between humans, technology, and nature. Her appearance at Sanatorium of Sound aligns with a tradition of sonic practices that defy categorization—opening up spaces for speculation, contemplation, and collective learning.
