Michał Jurgielewicz

Michał Jurgielewicz (also known as Eclectic Taste of Bot and founder of DECLINE.global) is a designer, audiovisual artist, and educator based in Katowice, Poland. His practice brings together space, image, sound, and fiction, using speculative design as a framework for exploring contemporary reality. Rather than projecting visions of the future, his work constructs alternative scenarios and modes of thinking situated at the intersection of architecture, digital culture, art, and design. Here, fiction is not an escape from reality but a means of reinterpreting it and engaging with it critically.

Working across site-specific installations, club culture, and institutional contexts, Jurgielewicz has presented projects at venues including the National Gallery of Art in Vilnius, Soundscape Foundation, Biuro Dźwięku Katowice, DIAGE Festival 2023 in Bangkok, Cashmere Radio in Berlin, and Mutant Radio in Tbilisi. His architectural and digital commissions include projects for the Sharjah Architecture Triennial, Biennale Gliwice 2025, and New Media Week 2026 in Katowice.

He is a co-founder of 555.SEA and You Said You Like Dancing, collectives that foster collaboration between performance, audiovisual, and design communities across Southeast Asia. He also founded DECLINE.global and teaches in the New Media programme at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice.

At Sanatorium of Sound he will present OBSZAR.SOS, a hybrid audio fiction and multiplayer experience for collective exploration and the creation of a hyperplace—a generative, planetary-scale sonic environment. The project examines the meanings of site-specificity and translocality in a world shaped by climate change, data flows, and the rhythms of digital infrastructure. Within OBSZAR.SOS, both local and global data streams become active agents, shaping a polyphonic narrative that unfolds through the interactions between environmental signals and its human participants.
