Charlie

Charlie, the Berlin-born and Kraków-based DJ, composer and producer, is one of the most active personalities in the Cracovian club scene. In SZUM, her club event series, she delivers diverse lineups to her audience, with both established and emerging artists from Poland and beyond. Together with the curators Arkadiusz Półtorak and Martyna Nowicka she also contributes to the visual art scene in Kraków as co-organizer of “Elementarz dla mieszkańców miast” (‘Handbook for City Dwellers’), a long-term project encompassing exhibitions, music events and film screenings that focus on the ever-changing urban culture of the 20th and 21st centuries, among other themes. As composer, she has delivered original soundtracks for exhibitions of visual artists such as Marek Chlanda (Museum of Art in Łódź, 2018) or Karolina Jarzębak (Elementarz dla mieszkańców miast, 2019), and for films of Maya Deren and Kenneth Anger (Lava Festival, 2017). In 2020 she presented her first multi-instrumental live performance at Jasna 1 in Warsaw, using a range of analog and digital synthesizers (VCO & DCO).
