Miroslav Beinhauer

Miroslav Beinhauer is likely the only person in the world who has mastered the six-tone harmonium created by Alois Hába. His journey with this unique instrument began with his participation in the world premiere of Hába’s opera Thy Kingdom Come, composed in the six-tone system. He later went on to record the only solo work Hába ever wrote for the instrument — Six Pieces for Six-Tone Harmonium, Op. 37. Since then, Beinhauer has been actively encouraging the creation of new repertoire for this distinctive harmonium.

As a musician, Beinhauer focuses on contemporary music and 20th-century repertoire. Performing as a soloist, he has collaborated with composers such as Phill Niblock, Klaus Lang, Bernhard Lang, Georg Friedrich Haas, Marc Sabat, and Petr Bakla. He has appeared at festivals in Europe and the USA, including musikprotokoll, Sound Plasma Festival, Strings of Autumn, Ostrava Days, Moravian Autumn, Janáček Brno, Music Forum Hradec Králové, MusicOlomouc, MicroFest, Konvergencie, and Gentse Feesten. He has also worked with numerous orchestras and ensembles, including PKF – Prague Philharmonia, the Brno Philharmonic, the Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava, the Hradec Králové Philharmonic Orchestra, the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra in Olomouc, Brno Contemporary Orchestra, the Opava Chamber Orchestra, the Kubin Quartet, S.E.M. Ensemble, Prague Quiet Music Collective, and String Noise.
