Meandry

The sound installation “Meandry” by Marcin Dymiter was created in collaboration with Piotr Ceglarek (sound architecture, pure data) commissioned by the Rother’s Mills Center for Culture and Science in Bydgoszcz. It is a collection of field recordings, but it refers to the context of the place, strongly marked by the original purpose of the historic buildings of Rother’s Mills.

In “Meandry”, sounds mix together as in a real soundscape; field recordings showing the seasons, times of day and night blend with the sounds of machines and the operation of devices that once were in the mill. Underwater recordings, made using a hydrophone, are a key and symbolic content of this work.

Several dozen selected recordings became the basis for creating a sound space in Rother’s Mills. Now these recordings will resound in Brehmer Park on the multi-channel soundsystem of the Katowice Sound Office. The installation will be part of the Office at the Sanatorium program implemented for the 10th edition of the Sanatorium of Sound Festival.
